About Rabbi Gabriel Kanter-Webber

Rabbi Gabriel Kanter-Webber was ordained as a rabbi by Leo Baeck College in summer 2022. His master’s degree thesis was on the defrocking of wayward rabbis.

The UK’s first openly autistic rabbi, he has served as minister to Brighton and Hove Progressive Synagogue in Sussex on the south coast of England since his ordination. Rabbi Gabriel is also an associate chaplain at the University of Sussex.

He is committed to his congregation’s tradition of inclusion. He strives never to say “No!” to anything that would enhance somebody’s connection with their Judaism.

His wife Manuella is a maths teacher, and they are parents to Omri (born 2020) and Flora (born 2023).
